The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) will step up on Wednesday, November 19, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm during Young Involved Philadelphia's 2014 State of Young Philly, to start a conversation around Philadelphia as a “City of Makers.”
Select Greater Philadelphia, Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce alongside the PHLCVB will explore how we can leverage the burgeoning “maker’s movement” to attract business and talent to Philadelphia. The event will facilitate a dialogue with innovators and makers about how what they do is a magnet driving businesses to set up shop, international tourists to visit, and meeting planners to book major conventions in Philadelphia.
Focusing on the substantial economic impact makers have on tourism and driving business to the city, the event will showcase the synergies that exist between industries such as hospitality, tourism, and retail, and how they are interconnected. Finally, it highlights Philadelphia as the fastest growing city for young talent, and how young makers are essential in attracting more business - and even international tourists - to the city.
Find out why some of the world’s greatest minds have chosen to “make it” in America’s original startup city, and how we can build on this legacy of creativity to continue drawing young innovators to Philadelphia.
